Come in, the kettle’s already on

Café con Yef

While I brew a cup, I walk you through my journey across technology, philosophy and entrepreneurship.

The ingredients

Three beans in the same cup

  • An open laptop with a chip and a wifi signal above it, next to a network cable and a mug.

    Technology

From supporting networks and servers to building products with React, Next.js and Supabase.

  • A Greek bust on two books, with an open book, a quill and a small cup.

    Philosophy

Graduate and teacher. I keep asking what technologies do to the way we think.

  • A rocket lifting off from a mug, surrounded by a light bulb, sticky notes and a chart.

    Entrepreneurship

My own startups and other people’s: from idea to prototype, and from prototype to first customers.

The recipe

Six steps, one cup and a journey

Every step of the brew is a chapter. Scroll slowly: coffee is never in a hurry.

  1. Step 01Grind0:00

    IT support

It all starts with the bean

Before writing a single line of code I spent years among cables. I’ve been in the tech industry for over nine years, supporting networks, servers and laptops.

Grinding is the step nobody photographs, but there’s no cup without it. I still love talking about which computer to buy, or how to make yours run again.

    Philosophy

    While it boils, you read

I hold a degree in philosophy and I teach it. My thesis was on the technology of the Greek alphabet: before chips there were letters, and with them the way we think changed.

Out of it came a book chapter, “Alphabetic technology, technological thinking”, and a talk, “Alphabetic technology, the origin of philosophy”.

  3. Step 03Bloom1:00

    Digital marketing

The first pour wakes the coffee up

During the pandemic I was already working in tech, but my growth had been linear until it stalled. I subscribed to Platzi and grew in digital marketing.

On top of my job I started freelancing: WordPress websites and social media management.

With Platzi, I was my own startup.

  4. Step 04Pour1:30

    Software development

    In circles, no rush

There was a path I had run away from for a long time: building software. I was terrified of code without ever having written a line.

Now I love it. It’s a gigantic universe, and that’s where I understood what “never stop learning” means.

Like any startup, you’re allowed to pivot, and it’s never too late to learn.

    Entrepreneurship

    Two cups: one is yours

At Kameliapp I learned about the ecosystem and about leading a development team. With Meishi Cards I built the platforms for my own startup: the app in the stores, the web version and the admin panel.

Today I run kofitime, to discover specialty coffee, and SkillsWater, a platform to learn humanities, technology and English.

    Conversation

    The cup is the excuse

When you tell your story, you create: inspiration, community, humanity. And best of all, we can create together.
